NDIS and Mental Wellbeing: How SJP Wellbeing Can Help You Thrive
How to Use Your NDIS Funding for Counselling and Psychotherapy at SJP Wellbeing
Navigating the NDIS system to access mental health support can feel overwhelming, but at SJP Wellbeing, we’re here to make it easier for you. Whether you’re seeking counselling and psychotherapy for yourself, your child, or need parental support, we provide professional, compassionate care tailored to your needs.
Who Can Use Their NDIS Funding at SJP Wellbeing?
SJP Wellbeing provides counselling and psychotherapy services for NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. This means:
Self-managed participants pay providers directly and claim reimbursement from the NDIS.
Plan-managed participants have invoices sent to their plan manager for processing.
If you are agency-managed (NDIA-managed), you will need to find a registered NDIS provider for counselling services, as SJP Wellbeing is not NDIA-registered.
Why Access Counselling and Psychotherapy Through the NDIS?
Mental health support is a crucial part of overall wellbeing, and the NDIS recognises this by funding therapeutic supports under the "Improved Daily Living" category. Counselling and psychotherapy can help individuals:
Develop coping strategies for mental health conditions.
Improve emotional regulation and self-awareness.
Enhance relationships and communication skills.
Build resilience and confidence.
Common Challenges We Help With
At SJP Wellbeing, our team supports individuals with a range of challenges, including:
Anxiety and depression
Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neurodiversity-related concerns

Parent Support Under the NDIS
Parenting a child with additional needs can be rewarding yet challenging. SJP Wellbeing provides support for parents through their child’s NDIS plan, helping them:
Better understand and support their child’s needs through coaching and psychoeducation.
Manage stress, burnout, and the emotional demands of caregiving.
Strengthen family relationships and improve communication.
Advocate for their child’s needs within the NDIS and other systems.
If your child’s NDIS plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you may be able to access these services through their funding.
